What is recycled polyamide?

Polyamide — commonly known as nylon — is a synthetic fibre widely used in activewear, swimwear, and outerwear for its strength, stretch, and durability. Recycled polyamide is produced by regenerating pre- and post-consumer nylon waste: this includes discarded fishing nets, fabric offcuts, and industrial plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfill or the ocean.

ECONYL®: the leading standard

The most recognised recycled polyamide on the market is ECONYL®, developed by Aquafil. ECONYL® can be recycled, recreated, and remoulded again and again without loss of quality — making it one of the most genuinely circular synthetic fibres available. Several brands in our edit use ECONYL® as a core material in their collections.

Performance without compromise

Recycled polyamide performs identically to virgin nylon — lightweight, strong, quick-drying, and highly resistant to abrasion. It is an ideal choice for swimwear, active pieces, and outerwear where durability and performance are non-negotiable.

Caring for recycled polyamide

Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle, ideally using a microfibre-catching wash bag to reduce shedding. Avoid tumble drying and high heat. Rinse swimwear in cold water after use to remove chlorine or salt, which can degrade the fibre over time.
