What is bamboo fabric?
Bamboo fabric is typically made by processing bamboo pulp into a viscose or lyocell fibre. The bamboo plant itself is remarkably sustainable — it grows extremely fast without irrigation or pesticides, sequesters carbon efficiently, and regenerates from its own roots without replanting.
The most responsibly produced bamboo textiles use a closed-loop process (similar to TENCEL™) that captures and recycles the solvents used in processing. When buying bamboo, look for brands that are transparent about their manufacturing method and carry third-party certifications such as OEKO-TEX® or FSC.
Why wear bamboo?
Bamboo fabric is exceptionally soft — often compared to cashmere in its handle — and naturally thermo-regulating, keeping you cool in summer and warm in cooler months. It is moisture-wicking, odour-resistant, and gentle on sensitive skin, making it an ideal everyday fibre.
Caring for bamboo
Machine wash on a delicate cycle at 30°C. Avoid high heat — tumble dry on low or air dry. Bamboo fabric can be prone to pilling if washed with rougher fabrics, so use a wash bag for best results. Iron on a low setting if needed.
