What is recycled polyester?
Recycled polyester — often labelled rPET — is made by breaking down post-consumer plastic waste, typically plastic bottles, and spinning it into new textile-grade fibre. The result is a fabric with the same performance qualities as virgin polyester: lightweight, quick-drying, and resilient — but with a fraction of the environmental cost.
Why it matters
Producing recycled polyester uses significantly less energy and water than virgin polyester, and diverts plastic from landfill and oceans. For performance and activewear categories in particular, it represents one of the most accessible steps brands can take toward more responsible manufacturing.

Caring for recycled polyester
Wash at 30°C or below using a wash bag designed to catch microfibres — this is one of the most impactful steps you can take to reduce microplastic shedding into waterways. Tumble dry on low or air dry where possible. Avoid high heat, which can damage the fibre structure over time.
