What to look for

Merino wool is our preferred fibre for winter hats — naturally insulating, soft against skin, and odour-resistant without chemical treatment. Organic cotton works well for lighter-season styles and headbands. Where you see alpaca or cashmere blends, expect exceptional warmth for very little weight.
